Anna June Vance, age 91 of Dorcas, WV passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. She was born June 6, 1928 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Joseph Ketterman Alt and Rosetta (VanMeter) Alt.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Vance on June 20, 1980; an infant son; an infant grandson and granddaughter, Holly Michelle Evans; son-in-law, Fred Evans Sr.; six brothers, Daniel W. Alt, Robert Arnold Alt, Charles Henry Alt, Joseph Ketterman Alt, Jr., Walter Victor Alt and James Andrew Alt; four sisters, Nellie Susan Alt Keplinger, Nancy Mary Catherine Alt Moyers, Abbie A. Alt, and an infant sister. Mrs. Vance was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Vance enjoyed cooking and having meals with family and friends. She was employed by Edinburg Manufacturing, Joan Curtis Manufacturing and Monarch Mills in Petersburg for several years. She was a caregiver for her father and mother-in-law. She was a member of Riverside Church in Cabins, WV.
Mrs. Vance is survived by three sons, Larry W. Vance, Steve A. (Diana) Vance and Joseph Edward “Eddie” (Lisa) Vance all of Petersburg, WV; six daughters, Norma June (Carrol) Smith of Dorcas, WV, Linda L. Martin of Petersburg, WV, Donna Evans of Maysville, WV; Karen A. (Roger) Ours of Cleveland, TN and Sherry (Arvel) Evans of Cabins, WV and Jacqueline “Jackie” (Pete) Berg of Petersburg, WV; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy George and Rev. Coleman Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Crites Cemetery, Dorcas, WV.
