Christopher Ellis Merkley, 75, died Monday at his home in Duchesne of ailments incident to old age. He came to Ashley Valley with his parents in October 1879. He married Aldura Hatch and built the home in Maeser where George A. Merkley now lives. In 1907 when the reservation was opened he sold out in Ashley Valley and moved there.
