Artanes Eaton, 89, formerly of Lake City, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born March 20, 1928, in the Cane Island/Poplar Ridge area of Lake City to Ida and Henley C. Sims. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four siblings, Jimmy Sims, Henley Sims, Mary Ellen Snyder, and Dewey Sims. She was a retired employee of FMC Corporation, served as a foster parent to several children in Craighead County, and was of the Christian faith.

She was the loving mother of four daughters, Betty Ishmael of Jonesboro, Barbara Gadberry (Mike) of Jonesboro, Sherry Wright (Lonnie) of Lake City, and Debbie Wolfe (Jack) of Nashville, Tennessee. She was a loving grandmother to eight, Kenneth Ishmael (Donna), Shane Ishmael, Steven Gadberry (Renee), Lisa Lucas (Kevin), Tonya Gadberry, Ben Wright (Tabatha), Tara Chamness (Steve) Dustin Crawford (Rebecca), great-grandmother to fifteen, and great-great-grandmother to one. She is also survived by three brothers, Perry Sims (Mary Edith) of Trumann, Charlie Sims (Dorothy) of Lake City, and Joe Sims (Norene) of Searcy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. at
Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

The service will be at 2 p.m. May 17, 2017, at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Pastor Jeff Watson officiating. Burial will follow at the Lake City Cemetery.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Snyder, Shane Ishmael, and Kenneth Ishmael.
