Memorial to Major General Edward Abbot Anderson. Son of Henry Anderson and Laetitia Anderson (nee Abbot). Baptised at StAndrew's Church, Clifton, Bristol on 29 Dec 1832. Married twice. First to Martha Birkett on 17 Aug 1858 (d. 15 Apr 1864) in Sefton Church, Liverpool. Secondly to Lavinia Barr on 18 Dec 1867 in Christ Church, Cheltenham. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst 14 Jul 1846 to 25 May 1850. Commissioned as an Ensign 81st Regiment 15 Nov 1850. Transferred to 37th Regiment 27 Dec 1850. Promoted to Lieutenant 6 Jun 1854, to Captain (unattached) 14 May 1858, to Captain 18th Royal Regiment of Ireland 19 Sep 1858, to Major 5 July 1872, to Lieutenant Colonel 1878, to Colonel 19 Apr 1886 and to Major General 1887. He was appointed an instructor in Military Topography at the RMC Sandhurst in 1862 and continued until his retirement in 1887. He died at his home in Camberley and was buried at St Michael's Church in Yorktown, Camberley, Surrey (see find a Grave Memorial 148589636).
