Mrs. Jett was born April 16, 1931 in Laurens, a daughter of the late John David Evans and Susie Mae Coker Evans. She was a graduate of Union High School. Mrs. Jett retired from Milliken and Company—Monarch Plant, she previously worked at United Merchants and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Mrs. Jett was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Jett Haney of Union; two grandchildren, Deanne Haney and Heath Haney; a great-grandson, Jameson Cole Haney; a special friend, Ada Hall; and six nieces and six nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son, Dennis Lynn Jett and three sisters, Agnes Griffith, Margaret Alman, and Clady Mae Parks.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Walter Holcombe. Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, especially Venessa Quinn, Jennifer Lancaster, and Melody Barnett for their love and care of Mrs. Jett.
