She was born in 1924 in St. Charles, Missouri, the fifth of eight children of Joseph and Genevieve Marheineke. She entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart on October 20, 1942 and made her Perpetual Profession on February 11, 1952. In 1969, she founded and directed Shalom House of Prayer in Wisconsin. In 1978, she came to Villa de Matel where she lived a life of contemplative prayer through the generosity of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
Sister Genevieve is survived by a sister, June Boettler; a brother, Joseph Marheineke and his wife June; a sister-in-law Catherine Marheineke; and many devoted nieces and nephews.
