REV. CHAS L. BRASHEAR CALLED BY DEATH

As was stated in the Herald last week, Rev. Chas. L. Brashear was in quite a critical condition as a result of a stroke of paralysis. The end came last Friday and this good man passed to his reward, which is a crown of glory among the redeemed, which he has won by faithful and unselfish christian service.

Charlie Lee Brashear was born in Randolph county, Missouri, April 4, 1868; died at the family home at Raymondville May 18, 1923, making his age at death 55 years, 1 month, and 14 days. He moved to this county with his parents about thirty years ago. Was married to Sally Haney June 2, 1901. To this union four children were born: Mary Elizabeth, Katherine, Charlie Clifton and Leona Mabel, all of whom were present at his death. He was converted at the age of 16 and entered the ministry of the gospel when 26 years of age. He was preceded to the other world by his father, mother, and two sisters and is survived by wife, four children and four sisters: Mrs. J.M. Theiner, Raymondville, Mrs. S.A. Dixon, Raymondville, Mrs. R.L. Miller, Molino, Mo. and Mrs. F.A. Clement, Holiday, Mo., and one brother, G.S. Brashear of Bismarck, Mo.

Truly this was a good man, a God-fearing, God-serving man, clean and honorable in all his dealings, upright and just in his daily walks; a man who earned his bread by the sweat of his brow, pleasant and sociable and friendly, taking his part in everything that helped in the uplift and betterment of his community. No man had aught to say against Charlie Brashear and in his death his family loses a devoted father and husband, and the neighborhood a useful and respected citizen. To the bereaved wife and children the Herald joins in the universal sympathy at the death of this good man.

Burial took place at Oak Hill cemetery Saturday, funeral services being conducted by Rev. J.A. Bertram in the presence of one of the largest crowds that has ever assembled at Oak Hill.
