Jennie "Jantje" Pothoven was born to Gerrit Klaassen Pothoven and Jacomijntje Van De Pol.

Jennie married Geurt Van Roekel April 3, 1880.

Jennie came to America with her husband and children. They landed in Philadelphia, PA June 14, 1892.

Geurt and Jennie are the parents of Ann Top, Bert Van Roekel, Geurt Van Roekel, Jacob Van Roekel, William Van Roekel, Gerrit Van Roekel, Henry Van Roekel, Albert Van Roekel, Hattie Vos and Bernie Van Roekel.

Jennie was first married to Gerrit Blankenstijn and her first two children Ann and Bert were born to him. Geurt Van Roekel raised them both and they took the Van Roekel name.
