Frances (as everyone knows here) was the seventh child and sixth daughter of Stella Letia (Hill) Thompson and Clifford E. Thompson. She was born January 4, 1936, on the Thompson farm northwest of Partridge, Kansas. She attended Grade School in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was married to Lloyd Raymond Phinney on November 14, 1950, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Lloyd was born April 6,
1930 at Bellville, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1950. They were divorced on January 13, 1966, in Hutchinson.
On August 5, 1966, Francis married Richard Dwayne Boom. Richard was born January 7, 1935, at Nebraska City, Nebraska. He served in the Air Force from 1954 until 1958. Francis and Richard have both worked at the Cessna Plant in Hutchinson, Kansas, and Francis has worked at the Hutchinson Bag Factory. Francis and Lloyd Phinney are the parents of three children.
