Loren E. Thompson, 88, died Jan. 10, 2015, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Partridge, Kan., the son of Clifford and Stella Hill Thompson. He was a lifetime Hutchinson area resident.
He was retired from Cessna Fluid Power Division as a machinist. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 982, and a life member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post 1361.
On Dec. 23, 1955, he married Beverly Hoffman in Blackwell, OK, she died March 28, 1984. Survivors include: six daughters, Carol Thomas (Stephen), Hutchinson, Barbara Minor (Robert), Larned, Kan., Penny MacArthur, Hutchinson, Karen Hatzenbuehler (Kenneth), Wichita, Kan., Jonni Lynn, Hutchinson, and Lori Thompson, Hutchinson; four sisters, Fern Baker, Everett, WA, Othella Scholes, Kansas City, Kan., Freda Troyer, South Hutchinson, and Francis Boom, Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patty Hoffman, and two sisters, Hazel Zink and Flora Scott.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bob Phipps presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. all at the funeral home.
