James “Jim” Collums passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Casper, WY at the age of 93.

He was born Jan 5, 1926 in Chickasha, Oklahoma as an only child to Garner and Margaret Collums. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mira (McElhoes) Collums.
Jim is survived by his sons, Gary and James (Jim), both of Casper, WY; daughter, Christi Collums Doyle of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren who all lovingly called him “Dandy.”

He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1943. Jim maintained his commission in the Air Force Reserve and in 1965 retired as a Captain. After WWII, he graduated the University of Oklahoma in 1949 where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a Minor in Business Law.

He started his career as an Oil Scout with Magnolia Petroleum Company in Texas and moved to Casper in 1960 with Mobile Oil Company. In 1964 he went into business and became a certified Petroleum Landman. In this capacity, he served as President of the Petroleum Association of Wyoming, Vice President of the Wyoming RMOGA, and Second Vice President of AAPL.

Jim became owner of the Seven Knights Restaurant in 1968. He was also past President of Golden K Kiwanis Club. His hobbies include fly fishing, bridge, and golfing at the Casper Country Club where he was a longtime member. He was also an avid College Football fan and never missed a University of Oklahoma game cheering on his beloved Sooners.

He will be interred at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery alongside his lifelong love, Mira.

A service will be held on Monday, September 30 at 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church on 2nd Street, with a reception to follow at the Paradise Valley Country Club.
