Joseph Lee Proctor, who spent his early life in this City, died at Mt. Alto Hospital, near Washington, yesterday after an illness of nearly two years.

The deceased was the son of the late Colonel Thomas F. Proctor, widely known Confederate Veteran of this City, and was born in Spotsylvania County, but came to Fredericksburg early in his life, spending most of his boyhood and all of his young manhood here.

He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Christina Mills, of this City, and by three children, Mrs. Ernest Blair and Nelson and Joseph Proctor, of Washington. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Proctor of this City, a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Ryan, of Connecticut; and a brother, Thomas F. Proctor, Jr., of Gordonsville.

He was a member of Company K Third Virginia Regiment, during the Spanish - American War, and was with that organization both at Camp Alger and Camp Lee.

Funeral services are to take place from the funeral chapel of Thomas F. Murry and Sons, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock and interment is to be in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Joseph Lee Proctor, sr., 62, of 1659 U street southeast, retired Navy Yard employe and veteran of the Spanish-American War, died in Mount Alto Hospital yesterday after a long illness.

Mr. Proctor was retired in August, 1934, after nearly 30 years' service at the Navy Yard. He was a native of Fredericksburg, Va., but had resided here many years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Knights of Pythias and the United Spanish War Veterans.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Christina B. Proctor; a daughter, Mrs. E. Mae Blair; two sons, Frank Nelson Proctor and Joseph Lee Proctor, jr., member of the Metropolitan Police force, all of this city; a sister, Mrs. Dora Ryan of Hartford, Conn., and a brother Thomas F. Proctor. He also leaves four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Thomas F. Murray & Son, 2007 Nichols avenue southeast. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
