FORREST, the only son of Joseph Orland Gossett, who carries down the Gossett name in the family of James Worth Gossett. FORREST "BUD" died at age 71, had been in the tree business for 50 years in the Ashland and Mansfield areas and also in Tallahassee, Florida.

Forrest Pulliam "Bud" Gossett, was the proprietor of the "Gossett Tree Service" and owner of "Brantwood Nurseries of Hayesville. In the Spring and Summer, the Gossett Tree Service" would operate from Hayesville, Ashland County, Ohio and in the Fall and Winter it would operate from Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida.

Forrest Gossett residence between 1946 - 2003, was Brantwood Estate in Hayesville, Ashland County, Ohio. Brantwood Estates in Hayesville, Ohio, has extensive plantings of evergreens surrounding the house and lawn owned by the Gossett Tree Service. The whole property comprises about 50 acres, and was owned jointly by FORREST and his son, JAMES. This is the site of the first Ashland County Fair started in 1851. In 1852, the fair was held on grounds west of town, but in 1853 it returned to the old site for a stay of about 25 years. A racetrack and buildings were built.

The Vermillion Institute, founded in 1845, and well known as a fine school of learning for half a century stood on grounds close to the Brant property. It became a public high school at the turn of the century, and was used as such until the new building was constructed in 1929. The Gossetts own the institute building.

FORREST was a member of the Union Disciples of Christ Church, Ashland Elks Lodge 136, International Shade Tree Conference, National Arborist Association and the American Society of Consulting Arborists.

FORREST is buried at Vermillion Cemetery, Haysville, Ashland County, Ohio.
