James Orland Gossett age 88, of Ashland, died Wednesday November 23, 2016 at Brethren Care Village. He was born in Ashland on January 13, 1928 to Forrest P. and Pauline (Marble) Gossett. James graduated Ashland High School, attended Ashland College, and was a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Law. He was an Attorney at Law practicing in Ashland for more than 40 years. He also had been Prosecuting Attorney, was Clerk of Courts, active with the Board of Elections and very active in the Republican Party. James had served in the Air National Guard. He was a Pilot and member of the Experimental Air Craft Association. He was an avid history buff, enjoyed traveling, sailing,
fishing and hunting. James also was an excellent musician; he played the trumpet and had been a member of the Speros Karas Band. James had always been fond of saying “It’s a great day to be alive in America.
Survivors include his daughters, Jann Gossett of Hayesville, and Joni Gossett- McCreary of Malta, OH., Jamie Ann Gossett of Atlanta, GA., and Jennifer Bee of Jeromesville; his grandchildren, Brant Mazurek, Hillary Wertman, Derrek Bee and Danton Bee; also surviving are several great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his Parents and sister, JoAnn Glosser.
There will be a Time of Remembrance on Sunday
November 27, 2016 at the Heyl Funeral Home from 2 till 4:00 P.M.
