Margaret Garcia Alvarez was born on January 24, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas to Blas and Luisa Garcia. She passed away at her home in Houston, Texas with her husband and her friend Gracela “Olgita” Peralta by her side, on September 22, 2019. She was 83 years of age.

Margaret was the oldest of 11 children. She is survived by her brothers Otilio, Isidro, Frank, Jimmy, and Albert and her sisters Elvira and Liz. She was preceded in death by her brother Lucio, her sister Mary and her brother Blas.

She liked to tell everyone she had one of each: one husband (Bernardo Alvarez), one daughter (Laura Louis Alvarez Ginter), one son-in-law (Terry Ginter) and one granddaughter (Margaret Ashley Ginter). She wed on November 29, 1957 and was married for 61 years.

Margaret loved people and had many friends and family who loved her dearly. She enjoyed music, dancing and traveling. She was a hard worker whose mantra was “make every step count.” She had numerous jobs in her lifetime, but her last job was as a head custodian for the Alief School District where she retired after twenty years of service.

Per her wishes, she will be laid to rest in Eakly, Oklahoma with her Mother and Father.

Special thanks to Isidro and Susie Garcia, Jimmy Garcia, Secylia and Joe Garcia and their children, Alyssa and Abrahm Garcia. Muchísimas gracias a Rosa Paola Meléndez por todo que hizo para Margarita en sus últimas años.
