Charles Russell Jr., 77, died March 1, 1999, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born in Hertford, N.C., he was a production manager with Mary Jane Bakery and worked there for 53 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. Russell; eight children, Wayne Russell of Virginia Beach, Carolyn Cunningham of Alexandria, Peggy Scott of Norfolk, Linda Russell of Virginia Beach, Sam Dixon of Norfolk, Frank Russell of Nags Head, N.C., Tracy Barbi of Greenville, S.C., and Trina Jones of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Russell of Lake Placid, Fla.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
