ALEC CAPPS, 93, PASSES; FUNERAL RITES THURSDAY
Alex Capps, 93, died early this morning at his home in the Oak Grove section of the country after a long illness.
Mr. Capps was a native of Transylvania county, the son of the late John Capps and Eliza McCrary Capps.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Oak Grove Baptist Church and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Rev. Finley Orr and Rev. A. J. Overton, Jr., will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Buck Capps, Ernest Nolan, Grady Jackson, Ralph Lively, Fred Cairnes and Oscar Case. Flower girls will be Grace Tabor, Betty Cornwell, Doris Cornwell, Christelly Capps, Barbara Capps and Frances Cornwell.
Mr. Capps is survived by the following children, Mrs. Nora Tabor, Mrs. Goldie Campfield, Joan Capps, and Ransom Capps, all of Flat Rock, Route 1 and Bryan Capps of Idaho; one brother, Bill Capps of Lynn; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Mr. Capps will remain at Shepherd's Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Thursday and will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
