In 1852 he was married to Alvira, daughter of Sylvanus Baker (& Temperance [Coleman] Baker), deceased, one of the pioneers of this county. Mr. and Mrs. Clutch have had 8 children, of whom 6 are living, viz: Warren, Mary E. John, Sarah, Ellen and Everett.
Mr. Clutch engaged in farming until 1876, when he entered into the mercantile business in Kinderhook. He carries a stock of $5,000, consisting of dry-goods, hats and caps, boots and shoes, groceries, queensware, and everything usually kept in a first-class mixed store. He also deals in agricultural implements. He still owns a farm, and still gives some attention to tanning.
