Married: Mary Paine 23 Nov 1704 by Joseph Sheffield, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy Paine of Freetown, MA. Giles died there previous to 1750. (24, pg. 68)
There were many cases of smallpox in the year 1739. Joseph, Peleg, and John were treated for the disease at Costales Harbor near Newport. (Newport Historical Society, Jul 1881)
