IN MEMORY OF Jackson J. Brown, aka Jesse Jackson Brown. He used his middle name Jackson Brown, Jack, and JJ per his local newspaper, Confederate service, military pension, census, and 2 marriage records.
* 1850 census, he was named after his father Jesse Brown.
* 1830 and 1840 census, his parents moved from Surry County, NC to Woodstock District, and lived S of Hickory Flat, Cherokee County, GA after brother James was born in Sept 1834 .
* 1840s His brother-in-law William Henry Harrison Black b. 1813 was a Trustee, who helped purchase a land lot around 1840s for the Mt Gilead United Methodist Church, 889 Arnold Mill Rd, Woodstock, GA 30188, Tel: (770) 591-0837, situated N of Rusk Cemetery.
* 1850 through 1907 Jack Brown lived in Sugar Valley, Gordon County GA.
* 1907 According to his church's records, his death date was: "Brown, Jackson J. Deceased 7/10/1907."

* 1907 According to Calhoun Times newspaper in 1907, he was a well-known Miller [saw mill].
* 1862 March enlisted in the southern Army, and he is listed as J. J. Brown on Civil War Roster of Confederate Soldiers with Company D, 40th Regiment, Stovall's Brigade organized in Gordon County, GA; along with: J. W. Baugh (Jack's brother Eaton Brown's in-law) and B. J. Black (possibly Jack's sister Nancy Brown Black's in-law.
* 1905 He is listed as J. J. Brown on Civil War Confederate Pension records, Gordon County, GA, in which he states that, he was born Nov 1840 in Cherokee Country [County], GA.
* 1872 Dec Jackson Brown married 1st at Conyers, Rockdale, GA to Theresa Annis "Annie" Deal (1850-1887), daughter of Marcellus Rowan Deal of Henry County.

(1) Lillian Brown, aka Mrs. Lillie Harbour, b. Aug 1874 in Sugar Valley, Gordon County, GA - d. 29 Mar 1921 at Rossville, Walker County, GA; FindaGrave # 198686092.
(2.) Archabald "Archie" Low Brown, aka Tom Brown, b. 9 Feb 1878 in Sugar Valley, GA - d. 14 Dec 1922, aged 44, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, TN, FindaGrave # 198686547. He died one year after sister Lillian Harbour, buried next to her, and supposively their paternal-uncle Brown.
(3.) Zula Gertrude Brown aka Mrs. Archie Luckie Parker, b. Mar 1879 Sugar Valley, GA - d. 1940 Woodlawn Cem, Port Orange, Volusia County, FL, FindaGrave # 198686804.
(4.) Rosa Brown, b. 1882 - d. 1895 from Dropsy of the Heart per a family letter.
* 1903 Jun 29th Jackson Brown married 2nd to widow Mrs. Mary A. Timms, aka Mary R. Timms or Teems, maiden name is unknown.
* 1905 His Confederate pension application (1905-1906) refers to his wife and 2 children, who were his underage minor step-children living with him at the time. His own children were grown adults living elsewhere.
* 1904 Aug 18th The church records states that, Mary became a member of Jack's church:
"Brown, Mary A. Rec. by Vows 8/18/1904 by A.B. Pendleton Deceased" [died maybe early 1920s]

Note: That letter was written by by Daddy's grandma Mattie Brown.
