LEMUEL JEROME BRAY, 83, passed from this life Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002,at a local hospital. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Lemuel Jerome Bray was born May 6, 1918 in Graham. He graduated from Ranger High School and earned a football scholarship to Texas Wesleyan College. He earned his B.S. degree in 1940.

Lem served his country during World War II in the 15th Air Force for 5 years. His duty stations included Camp Bowie, Jefferson, Missouri and Las Vegas, Nev. where he married Roberta Harding of Bowie in 1942. He was transferred to Bari, Italy during the war. He returned to civilian life where he completed his M.S. at North Texas State University. Mr. Bray served as principal at Nocona High School, superintendent at Ozona, principal at John T. White, and joined the Fort Worth Independent School district in 1957. He completed studies in Adult Education at the University of New York, Albany, N.Y., University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo., Texas A&M University, College Station and North Texas State University. He taught at Sam Rosen Elementary and retired in 1978 after serving 12 years as supervisor of the Adult Education Program for the Fort Worth I.S.D.

He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a 58-year Master Mason. Mr. Bray was past president of the Texas Wesleyan Ram Booster Club and also active in the Ranger High School Exes program.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, John Bray, and sister, Doris.

Survivors at the time of his death are: Wife of 59 years, Roberta Bray; son, George Bray and wife, Shryl; daughter, Bonnie McVean; brother, Paul Bray and his family; grand-daughters, Jessica Bray and Kelsey Bray; sister-in-law, Helen Widelake Harding of Nocona; and a treasure of dear friends.
