Obituary
Mrs. Peter Rasmussen
The following obituary notice of the late Mrs. Peter Rasmussen whose death was mentioned in these columns a couple of weeks ago, is taken from the Cut Bank Pioneer Press:
After an illness of several weeks with heart trouble, an affliction that extended over many years, Mrs. Peter Rasmussen succombed on Monday evening at eight o'clock, at her home here, surrounded by all the members of her family. The end came very peacefully. It was as if the patient had lapsed into a deep sleep. The news of the death of this good woman although not unexpected, caused much sorrow in the city. She was a kind affectionate wife and mother and a woman of strong Christian ideals. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Alexander Pringle on Thursday afternoon and a great concourse of friends gathered at the Presbyterian church to pay a final tribute of respect and the church was decorated with a profusion of floal offerings and the choir rendered a number of beautiful funeral hymns. The pastor spoke feelingly, paying a fitting tribute to the deceased. Following the service the remains were conveyed to Crown Hill cemetery and placed at rest. The pallberarers were: M. S. Bush, Hiram Micken, R. L. Taft, F. H. Worden, R. C. Rasmussen and C. E. Kine. Carrie Nelson Rasmusson was born in Norway March 3, 1860 and came to America in 1880. On Dec. 2, 1884 she was married to Peter Rasmussen, at Willmar, Minn. The surviving children are: Mrs. LaDue, of Pine River, Minn., Millie, Robert, Iden and Gertrude, of Cut Bank. The family moved to Cut Bank from Willmar about three years ago.

Gravesite Details
The grave marker shows incorrect birth year. It should be 1861. Because of the name change when she arrived from Norway, most USA records have her maiden or middle name as Nelson or Nilson, which technically should be Nielsen if it's Norwegian.
