Joeretta Eliza Gilkey age 82 of Lubbock, Texas formally of Danville, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 12, 2019.

Joeretta's name at birth was Henrietta Eliza Wilson. She later changed it to Joeretta Eliza. She was born in Dalton, Missouri on August 23, 1936 to the late Annie Mariah Wilson Collins. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, past member of the Chambers Hospital Auxiliary and Upper Spring Creek E. H. Club. In Lubbock she worked at Guadalupe Elementary School, and the Lubbock Club. She was a active member of the Navy Wives.

She was the widow of Hazel (Haze) Lee Gilkey.

She leaves to cherish her memory; three sons, Raymond Lee Gilkey, Derwin Keith Gilkey (Peggy), and William Henry Gilkey (Gail); devoted daughter, Natalie Jean Johnson (James); brother, Jesse Powell (Vivian); two sisters, Ruth Tatum and Lavella Evans; eight grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, August 16th, and Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. both at the Danville United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Howell Cemetery.
