Hyattsville and Vicinity.
The funeral of George N. Walker, who died at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. W. Lester, near Branchville, took place Christmas day from his late residence in Hyattsville, and the remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery, near this place. Rev. S. Ward Righter, pastor of the Hyattsville Presbyterian Church, officiated. The pallbearers were Dr. Chas. A. Wells, W. P. Magruder, Chas. H. Long, Arthur Carr, George S. Britt and J. B. Burnside. Deceased was sixty years of age. He was a nephew of Samuel H. Walker of Mexican war fame. He was born in Washington and at an early age was taken to the old Walker homestead near Mitchellsville, and twenty-five years ago removed to Hyattsville. Besides constructing many dwelling houses, he was the contractor for both the Catholic and Episcopal churches and also built Masonic Temple and the public school house.
