LA PORTE -- Services for Gertrude E. Adams, 87, of 1700 I Street, who died at 2:12 p.m. Sunday in La Porte Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Haverstock Chapel. Burial will be in Door Village Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the La Porte Community Heart Association.
Mrs. Adams was born Feb. 3, 1906, in Morgantown, W. Va., and had lived in La Porte for 73 years. She married Robert Jeffries, who died May 18, 1967. She then married John Adams, who died Nov. 8, 1976. Surviving are three daughters, Betty Cady, Jessie Otter and Bessie Samford, all of La Porte; two sons, Franklin Jeffries and Robert Jeffries, both of La Porte; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. A son, Kenneth L. Jeffries, and two grandchildren preceded her in death. She was a member of the La Porte area Democratic Women's Club.
