LA PORTE -- Services for John W. Adams, 74, of 1403 J St., who died at 2:25 a.m. Monday at the La Porte Hospital after an illness of four years, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Haverstock Chapel. Rev. Marvin O. Carlson, pastor of Bethany Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in Door Village Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home.
Adams was born on May 3, 1902, in Vincennes, Ind. He was a spray painter at Inter Royal, Michigan City. He was married June 21, 1963, in La Porte to the former Gertrude Jeffries, who survives. Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Mrs. Charles Otter, Mrs. Robert Samford and Mrs. Stanley Levendoski, all of La Porte; two stepsons, Franklin Jeffries of La Porte and Robert Jeffries of Fitchburg, Mass.; a sister, Bertha Brenda of Davenport, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. Adams was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.
