Mary Antoinette "Nette" Madden Howard, 73, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 1972, at Mary Immaculate Hospital, where she had been a patient for two days. She had been in ill health for two and a half years.

She was born on September 7, 1898, in New Market, Kentucky, the daughter of William Thomas Madden and Mary Ellen Warren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, John W. Howard; two sons, Dr. William E. Howard and Madden Howard of Lebanon; five daughters, Mrs. D.H. (Jeanne) Buckler, Jr., Lebanon, Sister Susan Howard of Montgomery, Alabama, Sister Johnanna Howard, of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. James D. (Fay) Keene, of Fern Creek, and Mrs. William A. (Richey) Humkey, of Lexington; a sister, Mrs. C.C. Murray, of Lebanon; a brother, B.J. Madden, of Lebanon; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church and the burial was in the church cemetery. Massey Funeral Home, where the Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday, was in charge of the arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were John Buckler, Bill Keene, Michael Howard, David Keene, John Newton Humkey, and Tom Howard.
