May 15, 1930 ~ July 13, 2019 (age 89)

Elease Chandler Courtney, 89, of Dermott, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Mrs. Courtney was born May 15, 1930 in Altus, Arkansas to Joseph Thomas and Ellen Evans Chandler. She worked as a Title One Secretary for the Wilmot School District for 21 years and was a bookkeeper for Chester Courtney, CPA for 30 years. Mrs. Courtney was of the Christian faith, and she loved taking care of her yard and her flower beds.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Lowery, Hazel Abraugh and Virginia Chandler; six brothers, Freddie Thomas Chandler, Joe Will Chandler, David Chandler, Velmer Chandler, Elmer Chandler, and Ray Chandler and a beloved daughter-in-law, Lisa Haynes.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Chester Joe Courtney of Dermott; her sons, Charles Haynes and wife, ShAila, of East End and David Haynes and wife, Evelynn, of Crossett; her daughters, Mary Courtney and Shawn Ply and husband, Mark, all of Dermott; 11 grandchildren, Mark Haynes and fiancé, Stephanie, of Newnan, Georgia, Rebecca Cook and husband, Steven, Joseph Haynes and wife, Nicole, all of East End, Amanda Golda of Durango, Colorado, Stephanie Weems, Michael Head and wife, Tasha, all of Dermott, Eric Haynes and wife, Marsha, of Crossett, Allison Lopez of Portland, Oregon, Courtney Livingston and husband, Mitch, of Redfield, Brittany Garcia and husband, Michael, of East End and Alicia Travis and husband, Jeremy, of Cabot; 32 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2019, in the Dermott City Cemetery with Robert Ballard officiating. Visitation will be at the Courtney home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dermott City Cemetery Association, PO Box 324, Dermott, AR 71638 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
