Mr. Alvin "Gray" Bowen, husband of Audrey Link Hazelwood Bowen, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the age of 77. Born in Mecklenberg County on February 12, 1942, he was the son of the late Algie and Mildred Wilkerson Bowen.

Gray was a member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle and was retired from Key Construction.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ann Paige Shaw (Dennis) of Lynchburg, Bryant Hazelwood, Jr. (Angie) of Altavista, and Mitzi Brumfield (Ryland) of Gretna; brothers, Ike Bowen and friend Jere Anderson of Cluster Springs and Junior Bowen of Buffalo Junction; sisters, Eva Prince of Buffalo Junction and Lois Jackson of Alton; grandchildren, Justin Fisher, Brandon Shaw, Jacob Brumfield, Alysha Rigney, John Brumfield, Matthew Hazelwood and Ryan Shaw; great grandchildren, Joaquin, Hunter, Salem, Juliana, and Antonella; numerous nieces and nephews including special nephew, Sam Bowen; his furry friends, Toby, Tippy, Sophie, and Tiny; and sister in laws, Joan Bowen and Lucy Bowen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Lewis Bowen, Amos Bowen, Jethro Bowen, and Carlton Bowen.

Funeral Services for Alvin Gray Bowen will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Ingram Memorial Pentecostal with the Reverend Ian Rigney officiating. Interment will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Halifax County Humane Society, PO Box 969, South Boston, VA 24592.
