Sister Christine Banta, S.S.S., was for 80 years a member of the Sisters of Social Service. She was a prison chaplain and the Supervisor of the Service to Youth in Detention for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, woking with the Catholic Chaplain's Office at Central Juvenile Hall. She joined the Sisters in 1937, and came to Los Angeles in the 1970s after 20 twenty years of starting and running the Catholic Community Library in Kansas City, Missouri.
