Edward Abel, 89, of Yakima peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal happiness with his Lord Jesus Christ on Father’s Day, June 16, 2019. Ed was born March 5, 1930 in Silva, North Dakota to Jacob and Magdalena (Kramer) Abel. His family moved to Cowiche, WA in his teen years. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Anna Faye Hegwood and they were married July 16, 1949.

Dad’s career was with auto body repair and he worked for Burrows Motor Co. and Valley Ford for 40 years. Ed was an active parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church for the past 50 years and a member of Knights of Columbus.

Our family was so blessed to have such a loving and supportive father teaching us Gods love by living his word.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Faye, his parents, Jacob and Magdalena and his sisters, Lillian Martian and Delores Fruh. Ed is survived by 6 children, Ronald Abel (Sue) of Tucson AZ, Richard Abel (Susan), Karen Cyr (Fred), Kent Abel (Ginger) all of Yakima, Mary Kroutch (Bryant) of Olathe KS, and Marla Barnes (Ralph) of Tieton, as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 10:30 am followed by a reception and Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services at www.crs.org or sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936) who is caring for the family.

We would like to thank Cedar Hills for the loving and compassionate care Dad received for the last 10 months of his life. Thanks also to Heartlinks Hospice for the great care of making dad’s last few months as comfortable as possible.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.brooksidefuneral.com.
