Emily was a daughter of Emmet Earl and Mary Eliza Young Kightlinger. She married Cloron Akin 19 Jul 1925, Woodward Oklahoma and they had four children together: Travis, Clorene (Cookie,) Eddie and Wanda. She next married James Roach 21 Apr 1961, Claude Texas.
She operated a grocery for a number of years and was known as "Butch" soon after she began butchering her own beef.

Emily "Butch" Roach, 80, of 200 S. Rusk, died Thursday.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Llano Cemetery with Maj. Cecil Sellers, commanding officer of Salvation Army, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roach, born at Quinton (Quinlan) Okla. had lived in Amaraillo since 1952 and was a housewife. She was married to James W. Roach in 1961. She was a member of Salvation Army Church, Salvation Army and Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Travis and Eddie Akin, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Clorene Babcock of Amarillo; two brothers, Bob Kightlinger of Tulsa, OKla., and Edgar Kightlinger of Oregon; a sister, Mildred Brundridge of Reeds, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
The family will be at 308 N. Carolina and requests memorials be to St. Anthony's Hospice.
