Mr. Johnnie Bass Sr. and Mrs. Effie Bass gave birth to a set of twin boys, George Bass and Gregory Bass. Today we celebrate the life of George Bass Sr., the oldest twin. George joined Bethelder Baptist Church at an early age. George was hard working at a young age and throughout his life. He was a Cement Finisher before he became ill. He loved life and he loved his family.
George united in holy matrimony with Arie Kizer in 1959.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Effie Bass; his brothers, Joe Hill, Johnnie Bass Jr, O’Daneil Bass, and A.C. Bass; sisters, Effie Hill, Luvertia Gibbs, and Virginia Banks.
George leaves to mourn his passing one son, George Bass Jr. of Brenham, TX; two devoted daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Brenham, TX, Timeka LaKaye Kotun (Alex) of Texas City, TX; and a step daughter, Lavene Preston of Fresno, TX; one God-granddaughter, India Shirley of Denver City, TX; his siblings, Willie Mae Tyrone of Kenedy, TX, Gregory Bass (Ann) of Houston, TX, Mildred Mathews of Fresno, TX, Charles Bass (Willie Mae) of Houston, TX, Lee Bass (Linda) of Rosharon, TX, Mary Bass of Missouri City, TX, Samuel Bass (Kathleen) of Pearland, TX, Gloria Shelton of Missouri City, TX, Frank Bass (Emmie) of Taylors, SC, and Viola Bass-Calvin of Houston, TX; a host of nieces, nephews and great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces; and a special and devoted friend, Val Marie Ellis-Franklin.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by the services celebrating his life at 11:00 a.m.
