AMELIA - Keith Ward Barthel, 79, of rural Amelia died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Burwell Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Myer will officiate. There will be no burial as the family is honoring his wishes to donate his body for research.
Mr. Barthel was born Aug. 4, 1930, at home in Holt County to Louis W. and Lillian Katie (Nelson) Barthel.
He married Dorothy Bruner on June 15, 1952, in Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin John Barthel.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Dorothy of rural Amelia; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Craig and Mary Barthel of Alliance, Weston and Bethel Barthel of Newman Grove, Alan and Jan Barthel of Briggsdale, Colo., Kerry Barthel of rural Amelia; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Glenn Johnson of rural Burwell, Lois and Virgil Swett of rural Ericson, Joann Barthel of Wheatridge, Colo.
