THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 11 Jun 1981. ‘Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Solie Landers of Roxton were held Friday, 5 Jun 1981, at the First United Methodist Church in Roxton with the Rev. Walt Marcum officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery, under the direction of Steele and Thomas Funeral Home. Mrs. Landers died Wednesday, 3 Jun at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Born 20 Sep 1903 in Galveston, Mrs. Landers was a daughter of Henry A. and Grace Bell Owens Solie. She married E.G. [Gills] Landers Sr. on 19 Nov 1927 in Houston. He preceded her in death 9 Feb 1981. She was a retired school teacher and a radiology technician at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Roxton, the women’s Bible Sunday school class and the choir. She was also a member of the Roxton Book Club. Survivors include one son, E.G. Landers Jr. of Roxton; one daughter, Martha Bone of Paris; two brothers, Henry O. Solie of Houston and Charles L. Solie of LaMarque; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, John S. Landers, in 1974. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Restland Cemetery or the Methodist Church Memorial Fund.’
