Charles R. "Chick" Merryman, 73, 2209 McKinley died Thur. 5 Nov. 1992, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Mon., at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m.- 8:30 p.m. at Berkemier Funeral Home.
Mr. Merryman was born 19 Mar. 1919, at Stevens (North Sioux City), SD. & came to Sioux City as a child.
He attended Sioux City public schools.
He married Helen Beaver on 20 Sept. 1940, in Dakota City, NE. They lived in Sioux City.
He served in U.S. Army during WW II. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Brotherhood of the Railroad Carmen & was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; 2 sons, Charles II of North Sioux City, SD. & Larry (Clara) of Sergeant Bluff, IA.; a daughter, Sharon (Rex) Whitney of Sioux City; a sister, Edith Mahnke of Sioux City; a brother, Richard (Joyce) of South Sioux City, NE.; 7 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Clayton "Spud" Merryman.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bowers, Art Harrison, Robert & Richard DeLaughter, Terry Clay & Todd Henningfield.
