Son of Elisha and Eva (Dingman) Decker. Veteran of both the American Revolution and War of 1812. Married Catherine Line, daughter of Conrad and Clarissa/Claretje Line, in Sussex County, New Jersey, on Aug. 28, 1785 (Dutch Reformed Church records). Catherine died in Franklin County, Ohio, in 1824.

At least three of their children: Elisha, Catherine and Coenrad, were born in Sussex, NJ.

Elias removed to Hancock County, OH, in 1831, joining Catherine's brother, Conrad, and his wife, who had moved to Hancock County in 1830. He married Mary Kinzer in Washington County, OH, on April 14, 1831.

Thanks to contributor #49405207 for an explanation as to why Delaware Township, Pike County, PA is a more accurate birth location than the historical notation of Northampton County, PA:

"Delaware Township has been part of Pike County, Pennsylvania since its separation from Wayne County on March 26, 1814. Wayne County was separated from Northhampton County on March 21, 1798. Labeling Elias Decker's birthplace using present-day location may cause less confusion and be more precise."
