Married first El Caney "Eli" Newsome Born March 22, 1925. Two children Hager Born Feb. 02, 1926 Died May 1926; Jewel Dean Born April 25, 1927.
Second she married Jolly "Doc" Short on May 05, 1930 in Litt Carr, Kentucky. Together they raised eight children.
They are: Jewel Dean, Armina, Emagene, Dora Lee, Kenneth J., Rena Mae, Harrold William, and Ina Mae.
Clarinda and Doc loved to raise a garden every year, and most of the time had a fine looking garden if the season was not too dry. In there later years they would walk each day, about a mile to their daughter Dora Lee's house to work in the garden. She would can the vegetables that they had raised in preparation for winter. She knew how to shoot a shot gun. A skill she learned as a young girl from down in Kentucky. Clarinda always wore a dress. She was very good at sewing and made clothes and blankets. She loved to cook, especially breakfast in which biscuits and gravy, eggs, and bacon or sausage added in. She and Jolly where members of the Old Regular Baptist Church. They resided in Austin Indiana until their deaths.
