Emogene Collins
Emogene Collins, age 83, of Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy. She was born on January 29, 1933 in Luis, KY to the late Jolly “Doc” and Clarinda (Amburgey) Short. On December 11, 1948 in Smithboro, Knott County, KY, she married Arnold Collins. He preceded her in death.
Emogene is survived by three sisters: Jewel Baker of Lexington, KY, Rena Mae Amburgey of Avilla, IN and Ina Mae Wynn and husband Bobby of Piqua, OH; one daughter: Velma (Collins) Moser and husband Bernie of Sidney, OH; one son: Wayne Collins of Piqua, OH; two granddaughters: Amber (Collins) Bowser of Dayton, OH and Genora Moser of Greenville, OH; four great grandsons: Caleb Moser, Caisen Swallow, Colin Swallow and Carson Swallow; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Emogene was preceded in death by one son: Frank Collins; two sisters and two brothers.
Emogene worked 45 years for Frisch’s in Piqua and Sidney. She deeply enjoyed ceramic pottery making, quilting, sewing, crocheting and cooking. Later in life she enjoyed visiting with her sister Ina Mae, they would go out for lunch and go shopping, or just talk about family. Frankie her beloved pet dog was most always with her when she would go out for visits. She was very dedicated to her family. She was of the Baptist faith.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, OH with riv. Philip Chilcote officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
