Etta May Burney, age 77, of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Charleston Manor Nursing Home. Born April 30, 1942 in Dorena, Missouri, to the late William Walter Adams and Hazel Ruth Henderson Adams, she was a housewife and mother. She was a member of New Beginnings Church in East Prairie.

On December 18, 1958, she was married to Billy Joe Burney; he preceded her in death November 6, 1998.

She is survived by three sons, Kevin (Kim Poe) Burney of East Prairie, Lloyd Burney of East Prairie and Frank (Regina) Burney of Mayfield, Kentucky; one daughter, Barbara Burney (Keith) Cook of East Prairie; and two sisters, Willie Ruth (Bob) Snow of Kevil, Kentucky and Elton Lee Ramsey of East Prairie. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Shaun Burney, LinEtta Burney, Dymisha Burney Boyd, Billy Burney, Roger Burney, Richard Burney, Joshua Cook, Bryan Cook, Samantha Burney, Chelsea Burney Gifford and Anjelica Burney Ledbetter; and 25 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William "Billy" Terrell Burney; one daughter, Patsy Ruth Burney; one brother, William Otis Adams; and one sister, Lillie Mae Hill.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019 beginning at 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Bro. Randy Eskew and Bro. Jimmy Allen will officiate.

Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery with Shelby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Cook, Bryan Cook, Roger Burney, Dustin Caffee, Bryn Ledbetter and Shaun Burney.
