Funeral services for J. B. Burns, Jr., 64, president of Highway Materials Co., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Wright and Ferguson Chapel, with Rev. Warren Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. Burns died Friday night at Baptist Hospital following an apparent heart attack. A resident of 832 Pinehurst had lived in Jackson since 1927.He was a native of Burns in Smith County, a graduate of Mississippi State University in civil engineering, was former secretary of the Mississippi Highway Commission, and a member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Elise Page Burns, one daughter, Mrs. Marcus Treadway, Jr., one son, John Baxter Burns, III, all of Jackson; four grandchildren; one brother, Sidney Burns of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Gainey and Miss Inez Burns, both of Jackson, and Mrs. B. N. Muckelrath of Bay Springs.
