Cora's parent's were Benjamin Brown and his wife, Mary Jane [Hawkins] Brown. They had 13 children. Of those 11 remained alive at the time of Brnjamin's death. Their remains are buried in Woodburn's Belle Passi Cemetery. The family had a farm in Missouri for some years before selling it in 1860 and loading up a wagon with only what they had to have and heading across the plains with a ox team to Oregon.

Cora was born in Woodburn, on 16 October 1862. Several of her parent's 13 children were born in Woodburn. Oregon. after her.

Cora May Brown's first marriage was to Charles C. Case, a salesman, on 02 October 1878, in Marion County. The marriage took place in the home of Rev. P. S. Knight, with his wife as one witness and the other being Mary Brown and the consent of Cora's mother. From her first marriage one child was born, Estylle M. Case, in California, in September 1881. It was not long after that their marriage fell apart.

Cora May's second marriage was in 1900, to Duncan Alexander McRae. From that marriage a second child was born, Harry A. McRae. Cora and Duncan lived out the remainder of their days in Portland. Duncan retired in 1939, after working for the large Lipman & Wolfe department store for 50 years.
