SPUR - Services for Alvin Jones, 86, of Spur will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. He died Saturday, May 8, 2004, in Spur.

Mr. Jones was born March 7, 1918, in Dorchester, Texas, to R.C. and Ina Mae Rotenberry Jones. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1936, and from Anderson Diesel School in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1939. He married Billie D. Adams on Dec. 23, 1939, in Stamford. He was a Certified A&E aircraft machinist for the Navy during WWII. He owned and operated Jones Motor Co. in Spur from 1946 to 1992. He served on the White River Lake board for eight years. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin granddaughters, Melody and Christy Blacklock.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judy Jones Kaneski and husband Donald of St. Louis, Mo., and Martha Jones Blacklock and husband Joe of Lubbock; two sons, Roger Jones and wife Ruth of Greenwood and Richard Jones and wife Joy of Lubbock; one brother, W.R. Jones of Coleman; one sister, Frances Kizer and husband W.L. of Conroe; nine grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, P.O. Box 16800, Lubbock, TX 79490.
