Services for Emma Caraway, 77, of Fort Worth were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday Febraury 25, 2002 at First United Methodist Church in Spur, Texas with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur. She died Friday, February 22, 2002 in Fort Worth.

Mrs. Caraway was born May 30, 1924 in Vaughn, New Mexico, to Placido and Pociana Guilar. She married E.L. (Bill) Carway, Jr. in 1957. He preceded her in death in 1973.

She had lived in Odessa, Spur, Clovis, New Mexico, Lubbock and Houston, before moving to Fort Worth. She was a public school teacher in New Mexico and taught adult education in Texas. She was the recipient of the teacher of the year award and also received numerous accolades and awards for her involvement in Senior Citizens activities. She spent much of her life helping the underprivileged and less fortunate. She was known for her outgoing personality and had many friends. Her greatest joy in recent years was her grandchildren.

Survivors include: two sons, E.L. Caraway, III of Fort Worth and Bill B. Caraway of Houston; one step-daughter, Kay Pace of League City, Texas and seven grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Spur/Dickens County Library, the Friendship Center, Clovis, New Mexico, or the charity of your choice.
