Mr. Andrew Pea, who lost his life by the explosion on the Burd Levi, was an old and highly esteemed citizen of New Albany. He had very many warm friends in this community, who will mourn his sudden death. For the past two years Mr. Pea had been a victim of misfortune. By an accident on the steamer Diligent he lost one of his legs, it being caught in a hawser and cut off. With a large family, and in poor circumstances financially, he had to struggle against what many would regard as a hard fate. But by his integrity and upright bearing he won all who knew him into a strong attachment. He leaves a wife and six small children; and we hope they will not be forgotten by our steamboatmen and the citizens, but will be provided against the pinching wants which a lover father's and husband's care would have saved them from had his life been spared. - New Albany Daily Ledger 23 May 1865

Andrew married Elizabeth M. Cobb Dec 1835 Floyd Co., IN; married Catherine Leslie 20 Jan 1848 Floyd Co., IN

Catherine Leslie was Andrew Pea's second wife and the mother of Emma Pee and all later children. - Franklin Family History (#48371214)
