An illness of several weeks duration ended in the death of James Edwin Crain at the Clifton Hospital, Tuesday, January 30. Mr. Crain was a prominent Hamilton County rancher who has lived in Hamilton the past few years.
The Rev. Robert Lindsey led services for Mr. Crain at Riley Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday. January 31. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Hodgkins, Garland Anglin, Sr., Frank Jeffrey, Charnie Raibourn, Jess Pruitt, and Darwin Atchley.
Mr. Crain was born in Oblesby, Coryell County, Texas, Feb. 5, 1897. His parents were James Wesley Crain and Amanda Elizabeth (Stribling) Crain. He moved to Hamilton County in 1907. He was a Methodist.
Three wives preceded Mr. Crain in death. He married Clara E. Loyd July 23, 1916. She died November 17. 1946. On May 16, 1948, he married Virginia Stephenson. She passed away June 23, 1966. *In October of 1968, he was married to Annie Belle Sparks who passed away a short time later.
A daughter, Lucy Lowrance also preceded Mr. Crain in death.
Survivors include two grandsons, Kenneth Lowrance, and James Obie Pearce; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Jeff Perry.
(*Correction: Edwin married Annie Bell (Sparks) Horton on January 2, 1968. Annie Bell died October 19, 1968.)
