Husband of Rebekah (Nelson) Wiley (m. May 22, 1782). Son of David N. Wiley & Margaret Mary (Wesley) Wiley. Served in the Revolutionary War under Capt. John Ramsey's Company; 1st Class of the Chester County Militia. Occupation: Miller - the Wileys were a preeminent milling family in the Harford County area; Matthew purchasing 2000 acres of land after his service to the Continental Army. Matthew's father & grandfather were prominent & successful millers in Chester County, PA in their own rights and in total 6 generations of this family followed the milling trade. Some of the better known properties of Matthew Wiley were Amos Mill & Ivory Mills in Harford County; the latter of which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
