CHAMPLAIN — Francis B. Castine, 80, of Champlain, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born June 9, 1925, in Rouses Point, the son of the late William and Bell Castine. He enjoyed working in his yard, playing cards and visiting with friends and relatives, especially about farming. He worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 22 years.
His parents; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Peggy, predeceased him.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice (Deso) Castine; one son, Nelson Matott and his wife Beverly of Rouses Point; three sisters, Donna Clark of Peru, Gloria Hart of Dannemora, Carol Castine of Champlain; 10 brothers, Donald and Georgianna Castine of Champlain, Kenneth and Kaping Castine of Champlain, Wendell and Emily Castine of Chazy, Wayne and Pauline Castine of Holyoke, Mass., Gerald and Lorraine Castine of Mooers, Harold and Viola Castine of Champlain, Stanley and Linda Castine of Champlain, Daniel Castine of Champlain, John Castine of Champlain, William and Theresa Castine of Chazy. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
Calling hours are Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain with the funeral service following at 4 p.m. in the Clark Funeral Home Chapel.
