DANNEMORA---Gloria Hart, 84, of Manley Street, Dannemora, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Champlain, NY on December 31, 1929, the daughter of William and Belle (Chenvert) Castine.
Gloria attended and graduated from St. Mary's School in Champlain. She married Gerald "Pete" Hart at St. Mary's Church. When her mother passed away at a very early age, Gloria took over the reins of taking care of the family farm, known as Ridge View Farms. She then worked for Grand Union and then later for Ting's Restaurant in Dannemora for over 20 years. Even today, her famous saying that will always be remembered is "Peas, Beans, Pickled Beets, Coleslaw!"
She was a member of the Saranac and Mooers Senior Citizens, a parishoner of St. Joseph's Church and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Daughters. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Walter N. Thayer Hose Company in Dannemora or the ASPCA in Plattsburgh.
