Tom Rodgers (known as "Bill" to family) is the son of George Franklin Rodgers and Florence Cornelia McBride. He grew up just east of Cana Cemetery. The land for Cana Cemetery was once George Rodgers' strawberry patch. Tom married Dimple Cash on Dec. 31, 1929 in Marion, IL. Tom and Dimple had one son, Franklin Leon Rodgers. At the time, Tom worked at Trevillian's printing in Goreville. He worked for a period at Beaman's Paper Mill in Peoria, IL. In 1940 he found steady work in Kankakee, IL at Paramount Textiles. The family relocated to Kankakee in 1941 and eventually bought a home on the south side on Schuyler Avenue. In July 1971, Tom and Dimple retired back to Southern Illinois and built a house south of Goreville near the old Berkelow school. His grandchildren Jeff, Kent, Leanne and Melody loved to come to visit his farm to ride horses.
